A City for Everyone
"With all of the change happening in our community, increasingly I have heard people tell me that we want to see Kitchener develop as a city for everyone. We need to ensure that success can be achieved for all our residents, that we recognize that we are stronger because of our collective diversity, and that we will need to lead in our focus on people, even when other orders of government may not."
As our community continues to grow and develop, it’s important that it does so for all of our residents, from our youngest to our oldest residents
Together, we will do the following:
Together, we will do the following:
- A comprehensive strategy to tackle the growing issues associated with mental health and addictions being faced by residents living in all parts of our community.
- Work to ensure that our first responders – police, fire and EMS have the necessary resources to keep our community safe and meet the needs of a growing community.
- Ensure appropriate resources are in place to ensure our seniors and those living on fixed incomes have needed access to public transit on the GRT and the ION.
- Create a Mayor’s Task Force on Diversity to ensure the City of Kitchener is reflective of the full range of diversity within our community.
- Create a formal strategy to respond to the increasing pressures resulting from growth in our community in order to avoid gentrification.
