I am committed to ensuring that we have the kinds of community facilities necessary such as community centres, arenas, libraries and parks and trails to encourage participation and healthy lifestyles for all residents."
Over the past four years, we've done a lot to strengthen our neighbourhoods through the national, award-winning #lovemyhood strategy. Now that we have laid the foundation, we must continue to build on the work that has already been achieved.

From 2018-2022, we have....
- Opened RBJ Schlegel Park Phase 1 including soccer fields, a cricket pitch and splash pad and approved the new Aquatic Facility and Indoor Sportsfields for Phase 2.
- Opened the new Huron Community Centre and the expansion of the Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre.
- Continued to grow the award-winning “Love My Hood” program by tripling the matching grant funding to $1.5 million over 10 years, supporting more community gardens and expanded our neighbourhood development office to assist resident-led project volunteers
- Approved budget and in various stages of planning for the new Rosenberg Community Centre, the Southwest branch of the Kitchener Public Library and expansions to the Mill-Courtland and Forest Heights Community Centres.
- Began a Comprehensive review of City property assets to see how those lands can be used to implement strategic community objectives (In progress)
- Developing Places and Spaces - a new parks strategic plan with an equity lens (In Progress)
